A total eclipse of the heart
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians, 5:17 NKJV.
Did you have an opportunity last week to witness the eclipse? Wasn't it an awesome sight as we looked to the sky and watched the moon cover the sun and day turn into night for a brief moment? Truly, it was a great illustration of how awesome our God is.
But I hope it also served as a reminder that we serve a God who can allow an eclipse to occur not only in the skies but in the heart of every person. An eclipse that occurs when we place our trust in his son, Jesus Christ. When we accept Christ as our savior, we become new creations - old things pass away and all things become new (II Corinthians 5:17). Just as the moon covers the sun, this divine eclipse transforms hate into love, sorrow into joy, fear into faith. And this eclipse is designed to last not just for a brief moment, but for a lifetime.
So yes, I hope you stood there in amazement as you gazed upward to view the wonder of a total solar eclipse last week. And may you be equally amazed when a total eclipse occurs in the heart of someone who surrenders their life to Jesus Christ.”
Today’s prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the eclipse that occurs in our hearts when we accept your Son as the Savior of our lives. Amen.”
